Winemaking
Picked at 22.7 brix, the grapes were cold-soaked for 36 hours then fermented in 2 stainless steel barrels, and bottled April, 2013.
Vintage
Similar to the start of 2010, the 2011 vintage started out unusually cool and wet. Summer was cool, but fall brought warm days and cool nights, allowing the grapes to gain ripeness while holding on to a natural acidity. The 2011 vintage is turning out to be a year that really shows off Washington State's best traits - a balance between ripe fruit, acidity and tannins for well-rounded wines that are approachable young, yet age beautifully.
Vineyard
Weinbau Vineyard is part of the Sagemoor Group of Vineyards, which includes Sagemoor, Bacchus, Dionysus and Weinbau Vineyards. Weinbau Vineyard is located on the Eastern edge of the Wahluke Slope AVA, overlooking the Columbia River.
Tasting Notes
Ripe strawberries, rhubarb and lilac bouquet lead to a tropical blend of mango and pink grapefruit with a zesty, fresh strawberry finish. This wine is the perfect summer sipper, and great with everything from cheese plates to salads to grilled fish and pasta.
