2004 Syrah

This wine is really all about chocolate, especially when first opened. A ripe black raspberry jam scent emerges from underneath, with candied plum flavors giving some buoyancy to that cocoa'd base. With time the wine becomes more ample and fresh, both juicy and mouth filling. A Syrah for barbecued ribs.

The wine possesses generous extract, spicy blue fruit flavors, moderate tannin, and a long, firm finish. Drink this Côte Rôtie look alike now through 2025.

2002 Columbia Valley Syrah

It’s a big wine… soft, round texture, not overtly tannic, just simple, unadulterated lusciousness Decant and serve with Peking duck.

...chocolate-covered cherry, baked plum, anise, cinnamon, butterscotch, toast, roasted coffee and earth aromas and flavors. Nice price.

“This Syrah is loaded with jammy blackberry fruit and rich chocolate. This is a crowd pleaser.”

Thick and dense on the palate, with gobs of flavor, this full bodied effort demands 6-8 years of cellaring and should drink well through 2040.
