2005 Firehouse Red: Wine Press Northwest

Review Score

Outstanding!

2005 Firehouse Red

Owner Ron Coleman's signature blend includes Cabernet  Sauvignoin, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Carmanére and Malbec. It's greatness regardless of vintage reveals the genius of blending to provide complexity and approachability.

This offers aromas of smoky bacon, chocolate covered cherries and mild oak, followed by dark toned flavors of black cherries and esspresso. Firm acidity and tannins wrapped in dark chocolate provide all the necessary balance. It's a beautiful blend that is stunning enough for Sunday prime rib but humble enough for Tuesday night delivery.

Always a juicy, jammy, generous wine, this year's Firehouse has an extra dollop of smoky oak to go with it's ripe black cherry and plum flavors.

2005 Firehouse Red

One of our perennial favorite blends, among the best bang-for-the-buck reds from Washington State. Mostly cabernet, syrah, and merlot with several other varieties for good measure.

Outstandlng! This Is the rich, complex wine that first put Ron Coleman on the map and on many restaurant wine lists because of the value. A medley of berry flavors awaits with dark chocolate syrup poised to enter the mid palate.

2004 Firehouse Red

First, there's well-managed oak, blueberry a hint of mint and fresh cherry pipe tobacco. The influence of Syrah is evident, too, on the tongue in a berry milkshake. Impressive tannins merely escort the cherries and chocolate to the finish.

2007 Chardonnay: Wine Enthusiast

Really nice, fragrant and floral with lovely clover and peach highlights. It's dusty and elegant, a truly stylish and very affordable Chardonnay. There's just a bit of sharpness in the finih gently fading into toast.
