Tamarack adds Sangiovese to our suite of varietals! A favorite of the Tuscany region in Italy, this wine is the backbone of Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino. At Tamarack, we have developed it into a food friendly and full bodied wine with sweet tannins and a smooth finish. Oodles of bright strawberry and raspberry fruit with floral notes are present as well, and with only 198 cases made, you know it's going to go fast.
The flavors though tight and reserved, are substantial and lightly earthy, and the tannins sculpted and refined. Well defined and polished, the tight, tart fruit is enhanced with hints of mushroom and earth, leading into a pleasing toasty finish.
High in extract, with scents of mocha, roasted plum and meat, this rich blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and franc wraps around your nose like a blanket. But for all its intensity, the wine has tremendous drive on the palate.
It displays an enticing bouquet of balsam wood, spice box, pencil lead, black currant and blackberry. Medium bodied on the palette, it is a ripe, dense, savory, plush effort
